First Australian Green Roofs Conference
Green Roofs for Healthy Australian Cities (GRHAC) is a new organisation for built environment professionals. In a first for Australian green roofs, Brisbane will host GRHAC’s inaugural conference on February 22-23 2007.
The aim of the conference is to demonstrate how we can harness existing and developing technologies, as well as our unique plant varieties for rooftops.
The GRHAC conference is designed for civic planners, architects, engineers, policy-makers, building-owners and developers, in addition to urban farmers and prospective businesses wishing to invest in what has become a profitable and sustainable growth industry overseas.
The Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Cr Campbell Newman will open the conference. Conference keynote speaker is Steven Peck, founder and president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities-North America. Ten other national and international speakers will expand on the following green roof themes:
- Business opportunities.
- Community benefits.
- Specifications, regulations and costs.
- Food from the roof.
The Green Roof Photo Expo will be held alongside the conference from February 21 to 24, showcasing one hundred of the world’s best green roof case studies.
