Spring into Bondi Junction and check out our new pop ups! We’re piloting two pop up projects – Jigsaw and Urban Lounge – as part of our Bondi Junction Complete Streets Project to enhance Bondi Junction, and to show the community how it can be realised.
Jigsaw, on the corner on Gray Street and Bronte Road, is a fun and interactive public art, games and lighting installation designed by Archrival. With public seating to soak up the afternoon sun and way finding artwork to highlight the pedestrian link to Hollywood Avenue, passers-by can also play a game of noughts and crosses or check out some inspiring artwork of members of the Bondi Junction RSL.
Urban Lounge, designed by Drew Heath Architects brings new public seating to Spring Street, with a fixed and movable installation. There’ll be new timber seats, artistic bike racks, mobile and lap top battery recharge outlets, wi-fi and an LED lighting installation.
The pop-ups will be officially launched on Monday 23 September at 10.00am. Starting at the eastern end of Oxford Street Mall (outside Williams Sonoma), the launch will follow street performers on to Urban Lounge on Spring Street and finally to Jigsaw on the corner of Bronte Road and Gray Street, Bondi Junction. No RSVP required.
Come and meet the designers of the pop-ups, Drew Heath and Archrival, on Thursday 26 September at 6.00pm. RSVP by Friday 20 September via email: [email protected] or by phone (02) 9369-8072. The pop ups will be in place until the end of December 2013.
