The Terms of Reference have identified the following areas for change:
- the processes and mechanisms supporting good urban design – this will involve investigating the role of state and local governments, private developers, urban planning and design practitioners in achieving good urban design; and
- the processes by which a community is involved in the urban design process, with an emphasis on the place and provision of public art.
Additionally, the Terms of Reference identify increased funding for urban design and public art and direct the Committee to investigate means of public and private funding.
The Committee is keen to receive submissions from professionals and practitioners involved in all aspects of urban planning and design, and public art. Although the Committee will focus on the Victorian experience, we are interested in examples and experiences of other jurisdictions, whether from other States and Territories in Australia, or overseas.
